So I had this dream where me and my best friend were in a friend group with these two brothers in elementary school, but this time we were all in high school now. I had to do a project for a class that I didn’t really know which one for but I was in the hall talking to a random person asking if I could do multiple projects for the class, when I spotted them both. (To be clear my best friend wasn’t there at the time for some reason it was just us.) I began to talk to them for a bit and one of them liked my best friend that’s when the first one - who liked her, said “just because I don’t like her anymore like that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends.” (‘Like that’ means he doesn’t have a crush on her anymore.) I was surprised about that since we got along well including with his brother - they’re twins, but I got surprised cause I didn’t really think they liked me, since I mostly hung around them cause of my best friend. Then they asked me why I keep hanging around them and I hesitated cause I don’t really like admitting things out loud - eventually I said it: “Cause you guys are still my friends.” Or it was: Cause I still wanna be friends with you guys.” I wrote it twice cause I don’t remember entirely what It was I did say but if those are basically what I did say. After that the scene was changed and I was in the bedroom of my house - awake with my best friend. We were looking at the gifts that the twins we were friends with had gave to us, but we didn’t know which gift was for us so we just looked through them anyway. There was a watch that was really rusty but the screen of it was pretty much still clean it had a word on it but I don’t remember what it said, then there was like these two shapes that looked like ribs but they were white, I looked at my best friend and asked her: “which one of these did they give us?” I asked her confusedly since we both didn’t know - that’s what was said before the scene of my dream changed again to me sleeping in my bed and it was nighttime, with my best friend gone cause she was at home. I started to get the repeated words saying: “Tell him” or tell them.” I’m not really sure which one was said since I don’t really remember but it was one of those.
Your dream offers a fascinating tapestry of themes centered around friendship, communication, and self-awareness. Let’s delve into the possible meanings behind these dream elements:
The setting of your dream, where childhood friendships are revisited in a high school context, suggests a subconscious exploration of change and maturity. The transition from elementary school to high school in the dream can represent personal growth or a new phase in life. Reconnecting with old friends as older versions of yourselves can indicate a nostalgic or reflective look at past relationships and how they have evolved over time.
The interaction with the twins recalls themes of friendship, acceptance, and insecurities. When one of the twins mentions that he no longer has a romantic interest but still considers the possibility of friendship, it speaks to the complexity of social bonds. Hesitating before admitting you value the friendship suggests an internal struggle with vulnerability and openness. It could be a reflection of a real-life situation, where you find it challenging to express genuine feelings or to seek acceptance.
The scene featuring gifts with uncertain ownership suggests elements of identity or recognition. The rusty watch with a clean screen can symbolize time (past experiences) and clarity (current understanding or insight), possibly hinting at a need to reconcile past experiences with present realities. The gifts being indistinguishable reflects uncertainty about your position or role within a friendship or relationship.
Ending your dream with the phrase “Tell him” or “Tell them” repeated could signify an urge to communicate or express something important that you are holding back in reality. There may be a message or feeling you wish to convey to someone but are hesitant or unsure how to proceed. The presence of your best friend throughout the dream suggests she's a source of support in both navigating these friendships and uncovering your thoughts.
This dream highlights the importance of communication in friendships and understanding within yourself. It challenges you to consider how you perceive friendships, how willing you are to be vulnerable, and what holds you back from expressing your emotions and truths. It encourages you to evaluate your past while embracing who you have become and reminds you of the value of transparent communication in strengthening bonds.
